Rattlers Topple Kings with sweep

The Kings come into the Snake Pit to face the Rattlers one day removed from a 3-0 loss to Medicine Hat. The Kings came out hard getting out to an early lead with the help of some spectacular serving from Australian Adam Turlejski early in the match going on a 5 serve run. Medicine Hat Battled back closing the gap to 2 at 18-20 forcing Red Deer to call a timeout. This timeout was highly effective as the RDC Kings finished off the set 25-21
The second Set saw a similar story to the first. RDC continued its strong play with an exceptional attack flowing through setter Jake Rapin. Jake was making smart sets and allowing open lanes for Hitters to get Kills. This along with some passing errors from Medicine Hat opened up a 5 point lead for the Kings. The Rattlers Closed this gap with some solid serving from Alfred Dalevik and errors on the Kings side of the ball. This was short lived as a timeout changed the momentum back once again. Down by 5 the Rattlers battled back with some very strong play by Joao Pedro Freire serving 4 straight with 2 kills on the rally to tie the game at 22. Both teams traded serves until Alfred Dalevik Served out the match for the Rattlers to even it up at one set a piece. The final was 28-26
The Third set was much more even as the neither team established a foothold teams traded serves and side outs. This continued until 20 all when MHC broke away with a serving run putting them up 4 late in the set this was too much for the Kings to recover from as the Rattlers took the third set 26-24.
The fourth set was a barnburner. Both teams offence was flying with big attacks coming from both sides of the net. The RDC Kings got out to a quick lead that was quickly met with equalization from the Rattlers. 3 attacking errors in a row saw the Kings lead disappear as quickly as it came. Vitor Pereira maximized his service with 2 quick aces. Red Deer showed their power with some quick powerful hits to even up the game at 17 A timeout from the Rattlers Regrouped their squad as they came out of the timeout to rattle off a 5-1 run. Up 24-22 Medicine Hat needed a Side out to win the match but the Kings refused to give up digging up a ball to postpone the win. The Rattlers were too good today as they bested the Kings with a kill from Vitor to close out the game.
