NAIT dominates Thunder to win ACAC title

CALGARY, ALTA., (Oct. 28, 2018) - The NAIT Ooks are your 2018/19 Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) champions.

The Ooks scored twice times in the first half, and added four more in the second as they dominated the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder 6-0 to win the ACAC Men's Soccer Championship final played Sunday night at SAIT's Cohos Commons Field.

This is the 11th league title for the school. The Ooks will now head to Holland College in PEI to take part in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Championship two weeks from now.

From the get-go, the Ooks took control of the game, scoring six minutes into the game when Tournament MVP Christian Lima scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal.

NAIT added another right before the half when David Doe scored the first of two goals on the night.

In the second half, the Ooks waited all of 42 seconds before extending their lead to 3-0 when Matthew Zima re-directed a pass into the Thunder net.

Chris Gakona, Doe and Brayden Miller rounded out the scoring to end the game.

Zima and Abraham Dukuly were named Tournament All-Stars for NAIT. Thunder All-Stars were Kenny Johnson and Mazin Choufi.
