In their 2nd home game in as many days, the Lions, didn't have the legs to maintain a 1-0 lead as they tie the Lakeland Rustlers for the second time this season. The start of the game saw an open, free flowing game, result in multiple close calls for both teams! Within the first 7 minutes, Troy Trench had a spectacular chance to put the Rustlers up 1 but goalie Jared Zimmer made an amazing chest save to keep the Lions and Rustlers all-square. Off a set play, the Lions also had a terrific chance thanks to a strike by Lions midfielder, Kru Huska, but was tipped over the crossbar by Rustlers goalie, Zach Wagner. Lucas Reimer, was able to capitalize on a pass up from defenseman Adrian Strandberg, sliding the ball past the keeper in 22nd minute, resulting in a 1-0 lead for the Lions.
Starting the 2nd half, would see another opportunity by Troy Trench but the Lions were able to maintain their lead thanks to a sliding save by Jared Zimmer! The Rustlers continued to push for an equalizing goal throughout the 2nd half as giveaways by the Lions and strong play by Lakeland College helped swing the momentum of the game. Frustration and feisty play by both teams saw 3 yellow cards be given out between the 70th and 80th minutes. The Rustlers took advantage of a foul call in the 86th minute and scored off a set play as this time Troy Trench finally got the ball passed Zimmer. Minutes later the final whistle sounded concluding the game at a 1-1 tie. Players of the Game were Defenseman Mark Anderson for Lakeland Rustlers and Goaltender Jared Zimmer for the Ambrose Lions.
