Briercrest falls to Sait after battling hard.

Friday night the Briercrest Clippers faced off against the SAIT Trojans at home for this first time this semester.  With a couple new players in the mix, Briercrest and SAIT battled for dominance, neither team giving and inch off the opening faceoff.  Micheal Di Lullo for SAIT was able to score first to give SAIT an early lead.  A tightly called game sent a steady stream of offenders to the penalty box but Briercrest was the only team to capitalize  in the period with a power play goal from #18 Josh Boelema. SAIT added one more goal late in the period to end the 1st period 2-1.Shots were 20-16 in favour of the visitors and power plays 3 -1 for SAIT.

Briercrest came out flying in the 2nd period and newcomer Sam Lawson tied up the game less than a minute in to the frame.  SAIT scored two power play goals on yet another steady path to the penalty box.  Shorts were 13-16 in favour of the Clippers.  Power play opportunities were 4-3 for SAIT.

The third opened with some rough play that resulted a tilt between #55 Parker Wall for Briercrest and #21 Taden Rattie for SAIT just four minutes in.  The games settled into a fast paced, end to end display of talent and spectacular saves by both goaltenders. A change in goaltenders for the Briercrest Clippers midway through the period could not change SAIT's momentum and in the end, four more goals were added to SAIT's score and  just one for Briercrest by Jamieson Ree.  Shots evened out at 14 a side this period, ending the game at an even 47 each.  Penalties were four for SAIT and two for Briercrest  for a total of 12 for SAIT and 14 infractions for Briercrest.

The final score was 8 -3 in favour of the SAIT Trojans. The two teams will face off again tomorrow at 2pm back in Caronport. Player of the game for the visitors was #23 Parker Evans-Campbell with two goals in the game and #14 for Briercrest, Trey Doell.
