Tanner Butler honoured as 2018-19 ACAC Men’s Hockey Player of the Year

EDMONTON, AB (March 23, 2019) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Tanner Butler of the Red Deer College Kings has been selected as the 2018-19 ACAC Men's Hockey Player of the Year.

As captain of the Kings, Tanner had a key leadership role guiding the RDC Kings (19-7-1-1) to third place in the standings. The fifth-year led all ACAC defencemen in regular season scoring, recording ten goals and 20 assists in only 26 games. Four of his markers were on the power play and one was a game-winning-goal. Impressively, Tanner ranked 11th in overall league scoring while being outstanding defensively.

The smooth-skating defender from Souris, Manitoba had two goals and two assists in a pair of games against the Concordia University Thunder in the quarter-final, helping the Kings advance to the semi-final against MacEwan University.

Last season, the Kinesiology student was named to the ACAC First All-Conference team and received the honour of being selected as the Red Deer Bottling RDC Male Athlete of the Year.

Prior to joining the RDC Kings, Tanner suited up with the Dauphin Kings of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL).  

This prestigious award was presented to Tanner at the 2019 ACAC Men's Hockey Championship held on (Date) at (institution location).
