After jumping out to a lead early Friday night, the Lions pushed to get back into the game, but couldn't come within 4. Ian Tevis and John Smith traded the game scoring lead for SAIT several times with Tevis ultimatly winning out 23-22. The Trojans shot 49% from the floor with several long distance three pointers and many crowd pleasing dunks.
Isaac Gray led the Lions with 13 points but his recent touch from outside the arc slowing to a crawl as he shot 1 for 6 from 3 point range. The Lions have clinched a playoff position (12-7) and will finish their home schedule next Saturday against Red Deer, part of a quadruple header of home action for the Lions to close out the basketball and volleyball schedules at the Lion's den.
SAIT's next action is a home and home series against the Medicine Hat Rattlers, their closest competition in the ACAC's South division.
Both teams will appear at the ACAC league championship tournament February 28 to March 2nd at Lakeland College.
