Lions Outlast Lightning

Lions Outlast Lightning

What the Lions might lack in height, they sure make up for in heart! Playing with a shortened bench, the Lions were forced to ask each player in their lineup to step up and contribute just a little bit more for the team. Turns out tonight the packed, Lion's Den, saw just that.

All 5 starters for the Lions put up a total of 100 points, with Isaac Grey, leading the pack with 30 and was just 1 assist and 2 rebounds shy of a triple double! Pierce Strutt had his coming out party tonight as the freshman scored a season high 20 points, while Kyle Swiednicki was his usual self, going 4-7 from 3. Josh Daniel both shot the ball well as well as they scored 18 and 12 points respectively.

For the Lightning, Jordan Britton, Cordell Minnifee and Issac Amsing carried the load offensively. Cordell lead the team with 25 points, and 7 assists. Amsing was strong on the glass as he picked up 15 rebounds throughout the night (the most of any player of either team).

The Lions lead by 6 going into the half, but quickly, St. Mary's was able to get the lead down to only 1.  However Suk Nagra, really provided a spark to the Lions with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter. After making a layup, putting the Lions back up by 6, he quickly took a charge as well, firing up the Lions! As 3's continued to fall for the Lions in the rest of the 3rd and 4th quarters, the Lightning were unable to keep up. The Lions would stay leading the rest of the way ultimately stretching their lead to 21, winning 104-85. The Players of the Game were Cordell Minnifee for the Lightning and Pierce Strutt for the Lions.
