Vikings Versus Rustlers - An Intense Game!

Camrose, AB -It was an intense two hours during the game between the Vikings and the Rustlers. The Augustana Vikings Men's Basketball team came out with an 11 point win.

The Rustlers started out strong as they were up by 12 in the first couple minutes. After strong words from head coach Drabuik, and some meaningful timeouts the Vikings found their groove and closed the gap to 23 - 14 for Augustana at the end of the first.

The second period was just as intense as the first, with the help of the home team's fans filling the bleachers. Vikings outscored Lakeland by 5 in this quarter.

Half time was powerful for both teams as they came out shooting with back-to-back baskets from both teams. Despite lots of fouls on both ends, no player ended up fouling out.

Going into the last quarter the gap was within a couple of points, but the Rustlers let it get away from them due to their shots just not falling. The game concluded with Vikings winning 89-78.

Second year Viking, Elijah Schmuland was awarded Player of the Game with an amazing 14 rebounds and 13 points, all of which he was definitely deserving of. On the Rustlers side, Artavis Holiday from Arkansa was awarded Player of the Game with 8 rebounds and 15 points. Choosing player of the game was a toss up for both teams as the young athletes played very well and showcased stunning plays.

Even with the hard work from Lakeland they couldn't close the gap they let get away from them in the start of the fourth. This resulted in Augustana taking the win.
