Broncos back to .500 with win over Lightning

Olds- On November 11, behind a massive offensive effort from their starters, the Olds College Broncos (2-2) got past the St. Mary's University Lightning (0-5) 99-79 at the Ralph Klein Center.

Linden Jackson continued his stellar offensive season, putting up 46 points to lead his Broncos to victory. Jackson also brought in ten rebounds to record a double-double while shooting 20/33 from the floor.

The Broncos started the game hot, quickly jumping ahead to a 25-19 lead at the end of the first quarter due to timely scoring from both inside the paint and from the outside. Linden Jackson showed his athleticism early, constantly driving the hoop, drawing fouls, and scoring points close to the basket.

The second quarter was much of the same, as the Broncos went to the locker room up 49-39.

The Lightning got within two points in the third quarter, forcing more turnovers, knocking down more of their looks, and capitilizing on the Broncos inability to hit the three ball. However, late in the quarter Jackson hit two big buckets to restore a six point lead for the Broncos, up 69-63.

The Broncos came out of the break strong offensively, taking a stranglehold of the game by scoring 22 points in 7 minutes to take a 14 point lead with three minutes remaining. The Broncos were able to milk the rest of the clock, making their way to their second win of the season.

The Broncos will host Lethbridge next Friday at 8 P.M. while the Lightning will return home to face Briercrest, also Friday at 8 P.M.
