Day one of ACAC Curling Fall Regional is complete

Red Deer, November 23, 2018 – Talented student-athletes from across the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) hit the ice at the Pidherney Curling Centre on Friday, and there were many strong performances to kick off the Fall Regional.

In the men's division, the NAIT Ooks jumped out to an early lead in the standings with a pair of wins on the first day of competition. At 5:30 p.m., the Ooks edged the Lakeland College Rustlers 5-4 and then downed the RDC Kings 7-3 in the 8:00 p.m. draw.

Not much separated the women's teams on day one. The Olds College Broncos were the only team with an unblemished record (1-0), sealing a 6-4 decision over the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings.

The Lakeland College Rustlers Mixed Curling team had a strong day, capturing a pair of victories to sit at the top of the standings. The Rustlers defeated the Portage College Voyageurs 7-1 and then downed the U of A Augustana Vikings 10-3.

The men's and women's divisions will compete at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. The mixed teams will start at 11:30 a.m.
