Despite playing with tendinitis in her right elbow and a sore left hand, Kate turned in a strong performance at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Golf Championship in Chilliwack, B.C. Kate put together rounds of 80-81-76 for a 237 total, to capture silver and finish six strokes behind Carolyn Lee of UBC Okanagan of Kelowna. She was one stroke up on opening day leader Sonia Nagindas of Toronto’s Humber College. Kate, who received her All-Canadian award at the championship banquet, was named to the tournament all-star team. Earlier in the season, Kate finished second at the ACAC Championships after winning the North Regional title. Injuries forced her to miss the second day of the South Regional playoff.
Kate is a second year Kinesiology student from Red Deer, AB.

Fifth Year forward, Cameo Mckerlie led the way for the Lakeland Rustlers as they opened their season with a sweep over the Augustana Vikings. On Friday Mckerlie had 25 pts and 8 rebounds helping her team earn a 74-44 road victory. On Saturday night she once again led the Rustlers in scoring with 21 pts and 9 rebounds on route to an 85-41 home win.
Cameo is a fifth year Bachelor of Arts student from Saskatoon, SK.

Honourable mentions goes to Montana Romeril (STMU) with 45 point performance in women's basketball and Megan Brennan (SAIT) with 21 kills, 18 digs, and 5 service ace outing in women's volleyball action.

First year General Studies student and Lightning men’s basketball forward Ali Raza lead his team to a weekend sweep of the SAIT Trojans in his first ACAC games this weekend. Friday night saw Raza earn 15 points in his teams nail biting win over the Trojans, 93-92. Raza also grabbed 11 rebounds and four assists. In Saturday’s home opener vs the Trojans, Raza had a “triple double” night, netting 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists in his team’s second victory of the weekend by a score of 89-83.
