Tanner VanDeSype
Augustana Campus, U of A Men's Hockey Rookie defenseman, Tanner VanDeSype scored 3 goals Friday night in the 10-1 win vs. Briercrest Clippers. Tanner added 4 more points from 4 assists in the Saturday game winning 10-6. Tanner quarter-backed the Vikings' power play all weekend, which went 10 for 16 an astounding 62.5%. He finished with a +6 rating at regular strength. Tanner helped gain two wins on the road, 3 goals, 4 assists, 7 points, and plus 6 for the weekend as a rookie d-man. Tanner is a first year History major from Radville, Saskatchewan. Congratulations Tanner on your outstanding play! |
Patricia Arends
Concordia Women's Soccer Patricia Arends, a second year goalie from Spruce Grove, AB, helped lead the Concordia Thunder womens' soccer team to their first ACAC Women's Soccer Championship title. She earned back to back shutouts over the weekend vs. MacEwan University and Mount Royal University with an identical score of 1-0 in both games. Patricia has nine shutouts so far, seven during the regular season and two during the playoffs. She has the best goals against average in the entire women's league (North and South) at a microscopic 0.30. She will head to the CCAA Women's Soccer Championships riding a four game shutout streak. Congratulations in being name Athlete of the Week and good luck at the CCAA Championship! |
