2012-13 ACAC Women's North & South Soccer Coaches of the Year

10/30/2012...Edmonton, Alberta - The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the 2012-13 ACAC Women's North & South Soccer Coaches of the Year as selected by their peers.

 

SOUTH

Jim Loughlin - Medicine Hat College

2012-2013 is Jim’s ninth year as the Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer Team and his seventh as the Women’s Soccer Head Coach.


Loughlin graduated with a Bachelor of Physical Education and Sport Studies degree from the University of Alberta in 1992. He completed a Master of Arts degree in Coaching with specialization in Applied Sport Psychology, also from the University of Alberta in 1997.

Loughlin has been a Professional Coach for over seventeen years, coaching with various clubs and school based soccer Academies. He received full time status in 2007 as the Head Coach of the Rattlers Men’s and Women’s Soccer Teams in addition to a role instructing in the UT Kinesiology Program. Loughlin has been the recipient of the ACAC Coach of the Year Award for the Men’s Soccer in 2006 & 2010 and Women’s Soccer in 2007.

NORTH

Dean Cordeiro - Concordia University College of Alberta

Dean Cordeiro is in his 6th year of coaching with the Concordia Thunder Women’s Soccer team. In his six years in the ACAC, his teams have earned a CCAA Gold Medal, two ACAC Gold Medals, 3 ACAC Silver Medals and one ACAC Bronze.


His team is currently preparing for their 3rd appearance at Nationals in the last 4 years. Cordeiro credits the success of his program to recruiting the right players; strong students who are also good athletes.

Cordeiro started coaching 10 years ago when he took over a men’s team. He continues to coach men’s soccer with AS Roma in the Premier division but has become much more involved in the women’s game. He has his National “B” License and is a Staff Coach with the Alberta Soccer Association. Cordeiro is the Program Coordinator and Head Instructor with the Mount Carmel Elementary Junior High School Soccer Academy. He is also the Director of the Northwest United Women’s Soccer club and Head Coach of the Major League and Premier teams.
