Calgary, AB (August 24, 2010) – Exciting changes continue for St. Mary’s University College Lightning Athletics in anticipation of the program’s transition to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC). 

08/26/2010 ... Lloydminster - Peter Sambu has returned to Lakeland College as Head Men’s Basketball Coach.  Coach Sambu brings with him varied experience from High School to Pro Basketball.  For the 2009-10 season, Sambu was the Head Coach for the Women’s Basketball team at the King’s University College in Edmonton, Alberta leading the team to a 25-15 overall record and an 18-6 Conference record.

MacEwan Griffins Athletics is pleased to announce Teresa Wallsten has been named one of 20 women accepted into the 2010-11 CCAA Female Apprentice Coach Program. Funded by Sport Canada, this program is run through the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) with the objective of providing an avenue for graduated female student-athletes to become involved in coaching at the national level, mentoring under a qualified head coach.

Lethbridge - Aug. 9, 2010 - Avery Harrison, an accomplished veteran coach, will lead the Lethbridge College Kodiaks women’s basketball team through the 2010-11 season.

The RDC Kings basketball squad will have a new look next season.

The major change comes at the coaching position as head coach Craig Behan is taking a year’s leave of absence to work at the University of Victoria.

Todd Warnick is the new women's basketball coach for the NAIT Ooks. Linda Henderson, director of athletics and recreation, said today that Warnick, athletics coordinator at Concordia University College for the last year, will join our staff immediately.

03/20/2010 ... Calgary ... SAIT’s Kim Lee gave a star effort worthy of her CCAA Player of the Year Award but unfortunately the Trojans fell short of the bronze-medal game at nationals.

The No. 3 SAIT Trojan women’s basketball team lost 76-70 in a fast-paced, tight game versus the No. 1 ranked Sheridan College Bruins...

03/20/2010 ... CALGARY ... Fear of failure? Well, that’s debatable. But one thing is certain . . . to start this 2010 Canadian Colleges Athletic Association men’s basketball national championship tournament, the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) Northern Timberwolves were scared straight.

The Champlain College Cavaliers were eventually going to take it out on someone for losing their provincial championship earlier this month. On Thursday evening, that someone happened to be Edmonton’s Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) Ooks.

03/08/2010 ... EDMONTON ... SAIT women’s basketball once again showed their dominance over the Lethbridge Kodiaks with an 84-72 victory, giving the Trojans their first ACAC Championship since 2001.  The Ladies of Troy dominated the ACAC, finishing with a 23-1 record and are now poised for a run at an CCAA title.
