EDMONTON, AB (February 10, 2018) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Takeisha Wang from Concordia University of Edmonton has been selected as the 2017-18 ACAC female badminton Player of the Year.
The Concordia Thunder badminton team finished the regular season in 2nd place in the ACAC. Takeisha, a 3rd year Bachelor of Science student from Edmonton, Alberta, had a great year for the Thunder. In the three regular season tournaments, Takeisha posted an impressive 8-1 record in women's singles and 8-1 in mixed doubles.
Concordia Thunder Director of Athletics Joel Mrak had the following to say about his student-athlete. "Takeisha has been incredible for us over the past three years. She is a great student, great athlete, and a great ambassador for Concordia. Takiesha excels in the sport of badminton and I look forward to watching her succeed over the next few years."
Takeisha and the Thunder badminton team will play Saturday in the ACAC team championship semi-final against the King's Eagles. The championships are hosted at The Kings University with the team event on Saturday and the individual events championships being held on Sunday. The top two finishers in each of the 5 events will move on to the CCAA National Championships held February 28-March 3rd at Concordia University of Edmonton.
