Morgan Casson Honoured as 2017 ACAC Women’s Hockey Playoff MVP

EDMONTON, AB (March 24, 2017) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Morgan Casson of the MacEwan University Griffins has been selected as the 2017 ACAC Women's Hockey playoff MVP.

The second-year Science student-athlete scored the overtime-winning goal in Game 4 of the ACAC Championship series on March 11 that secured the Griffins' first title since 2008 with a 3-1 series win over SAIT.

"Morgan was phenomenal start to finish," said head coach Lindsay McAlpine. "We rely so heavily on her and for her to come up big like that, I am so proud of her. Throughout the playoffs, she was our leading scorer and was just incredible."

Casson, an elite defensive forward during the regular season, found her offensive touch in the playoffs, leading the Griffins in scoring with three goals and six points in seven playoff games.
