Edmonton, AB (March 24, 2017) – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce that NAIT's Trace Elson (men's hockey) and Kendra Hanson (women's hockey) were the hockey top scorers for the 2016-17 regular season.
In his 2nd year at NAIT, Trace led the ACAC during the regular season with 44 points. He had 11 goals and 33 assists in 27 games played. Trace is a 2nd year Open Studies student from St. Albert, AB.
"Trace demonstrated offensive consistency throughout the regular season," said NAIT men's hockey coach Tim Fragle. "He possesses a high skill level along with a strong hockey IQ. He also helped lead a young team both on and off the ice."
NAIT also had the women's hockey top scorer. In Kendra's 2nd year at NAIT, she led the ACAC during the regular season with 25 points. Kendra had 6 goals and 19 assists in the 24 games that she played. Kendra is a 2nd year Emergency Management student from Thompson, Manitoba.
"Kendra plays hockey for the love of the game, not to lead the league in scoring." said NAIT women's hockey coach Deanna Martin. "She is a great teammate and is light-hearted and encouraging. She has made a real impact on the team with her 'I love hockey' motto."
